Filipino Orphan Children: Teaching Life Skills Through Forms Of Art

One of Asia’s most populous countries is the Philippines. A country’s current problem is its treatment of orphaned, neglected, or abandoned children. The children are also subject to abuse, and they lack the love and support of their families. This can cause emotional and behavioral problems. Insufficient funds and donations from the Philippines have caused some orphanages to lack the necessary facilities for basic education and recreation, which can make a child’s life miserable.

Because they don’t have the same opportunities as their siblings, orphanages are less fortunate. The orphanage provides them with various life skills through churches, schools, and other organizations. According to PriyardarshiniA., 10 million children live on the streets in cities around the world. Children and adolescents in these residential care centers are more likely to be emotionally disturbed than their parents and often do not have the necessary education. The Philippines has 1.8 million children who are being neglected or left behind. The orphanage children need to learn life skills. This will enable them to see the outside world and improve their ability to cope with daily challenges.

Curry (2015) stated in a statement that the most negligent act on an innocent child was to ignore it. An orphanage child can help someone see the importance of family. She also said that although an orphanage might be considered a good placement, it is still not the best for a child.

Dr. Jonice (2018) states that it is the child who is financially and emotionally affected by the situation. They may have suffered from anger and grief, which can lead to low self-esteem. Consider also the parent, who may be affected by the guilt and shame they experience when their child is placed in an orphanage. This can make them feel deeply irresponsible as well as a worthless person.

The Philippines has a high unemployment rate of close to 5%. This could lead to child abandonment due to financial hardship or poverty, where sustaining the family’s current needs cannot be met. It is possible to become a single parent due to self-doubt. However, this can cause parents to abandon their children. A lack of sexual education and insufficient knowledge about family planning may be another factor that contributes to the problem. Sex education is required to educate children at schools, colleges, and universities. This will help them avoid unwanted pregnancies. The government and society may also be concerned about a child who is disabled, pregnant as a result rape or other abuse, and restrictions regarding abortion access in the country. If parents are committed believers, this may help them to think about the consequences of their decision to abandon their child.

Wolf (2019) states that abandoned parents believed they were not equipped to be parents financially and emotionally. Some parents feel that their child is too young to be a parent. He said that parents may abandon their child because of self-doubt, but it is not a valid reason to give up your child. A parent should never abandon their child for any reason. There are always ways to live.

Professor Bilson (2017) said that the lives of children in orphanages are not the same as the common belief.

Many of these eight million orphans don’t have bedtime stories, hugs, or music. There is no laughter or chatter like a normal child growing up in a family. The children may pretend to be happy because they think they are.

According to the CFCA Resource Sheet (2014), neglecting or abusing children can have a variety of negative consequences. Abusing children can cause serious trauma. The child may rebel, which can endanger their life. Children can feel abandoned or neglected by their families. This can make them feel unloved and a burden in their family.

Children in an orphanage are not allowed to live a normal childhood. They are forced to listen. Children can experience silence from a young age, which can make a difference in their future lives. Children who don’t feel the pain they are experiencing will not suffer from it. “A happy child doesn’t always have to be silent.”

Family planning is more important than ever because children are less likely to experience abuse or neglect. All parents must consider family planning, not only in the Philippines. A parent’s worst nightmare is seeing their child suffer. If the parent cannot have a baby, the parents should seek out support from their loved ones so that the child does not feel abandoned.

The orphanage should, however, consider all of the necessary experiences and knowledge that every child should have. The children should not only be educated and baptized, but also have the opportunity to explore and develop their talents through their crafts. Each child should be given an activity to enhance his or her individual talents. Visitors should be allowed to visit and help the orphans. Visitors can help the children learn how to play music, dance, sing, draw, and paint. This will help the children feel less alone and loved.
